Steve Jobs nació en San Francisco (California) en el año 1955,^{22 23 24} fruto de la relación entre Joanne Carole Schieble y Abdulfattah Jandali (de origen sirio), dos jóvenes estudiantes universitarios que lo entregarían en adopción a una pareja de clase media, Paul y Clara Jobs (Hagopian) de origen armenio.^{22 23 25} Sus padres biológicos se casarían luego y tendrían otra hija, la novelista Mona Simpson, a quien Steve no conocería hasta la edad adulta.²²
